Strathalbyn is one of the prettiest towns in South Australia. It has maintained its charm and village-like setting and is a thriving heritage listed country town. Visiting Strathalbyn you will see many fine examples of its rich history, with an abundance of heritage buildings (dating from 1839) that are still being used today.

You’ll find a treasure trove of antiques and collectables all within walking distance. The Soldiers Memorial Gardens, and the Angas River, is located in the middle of town, and is the perfect spot for a walk, a picnic or just to enjoy the view.

Strathalbyn is a horse lover’s paradise, with an attractive racecourse, polo grounds and trotting track. Riding schools also offer lessons to visitors and residents, and there are several riding clubs catering for all age groups.

Getting from Adelaide to Strathalbyn

Easily reached from the east or west via the South Eastern Freeway, and the Mt Barker exit. A bus service runs twice per week day to Adelaide via Mount Barker. There is also community transport service supported by the local council.
